As a child growing up in Chicago, San Diego’s beaches and sunshine always had a special allure to me. Family vacations frequently took us to San Diego for the Wild Animal Park and spending time outdoors for reprieve from the cold midwestern winter months. In 2005, when I applied and was accepted to UC San Diego, a part of me felt like I was coming home. I absolutely fell in love with San Diego during my college years. After graduating in 2009, I pursued a law career that took me far and wide. Chicago, New York City, San Francisco, and even Bakersfield, CA. An attorney at large. During my travels, I learned the importance of community. In each new place, my work as a lawyer took me deep into the communities where I lived. And the fabric of these communities are woven together by the people and places where they gather. This is the beating heart of a community.
My journey has come full circle. I moved back to San Diego in early 2022. It immediately felt like home. At this stage of my life, it’s important to me to help where I can to not just be a part of but help build and shape the community where I live. Working with the San Diego Parks Foundation gives me that opportunity in one of my favorite cities on Earth.
